To celebrate the Dog-Eared bestselling book "The Eighth Life: (For Brilka)" by Nino Haratischvili, we're having a Zoom discussion with the author & translators, a discussion of the book with other readers as well as the opportunity to buy “Nino’s Favorite Chocolates” and “Jashi Coffee.”
Inspired by the Jashi Family’s secret chocolate recipe carried through generations, we’ve got delicious ways to celebrate!
We are thrilled to have Shannon Evans joining us for an afternoon of coffee and conversation! Her new book, "Rewilding Motherhood: Your Path to an Empowered Feminine Spirituality" comes out September 14th. So, that day, we’re getting together to chat about motherhood and why Shannon felt compelled to write a book exploring the barriers holding women back from having deep and authentic spiritual lives during the mothering years.
Moms, feel free to bring your kiddos along!
From Noon-1:00 pm, YSS Mentoring Facilitators will buy you a coffee & answer your questions about becoming a volunteer mentor!
The YSS Mentoring Program gives hope and opportunity to youth in the community by providing caring, positive adult role models.
Annual Park(ing) Day is an art project where people across the world temporarily repurpose street parking spaces and convert them into tiny parks and places for art, play, and activism. For one day only, the students in a third-year landscape architecture class at ISU will design a "parklet" in a parking space in front of our store!
For all our mystery-thriller lovers, join us for an evening of Rum & Cokes with Kyle McCord, author of the fictional drama "Reunion of the Good Weather Suicide Cult." The book's release is September 15th, so this is the perfect way to get excited about reading it yourself!
Led by ISU’s Creative Writing MFA Program, Dog-Eared Books will be hosting an evening once a month where writers from the program read some of their work!
It's one of the MFA program’s biggest events located outside of campus which aims to connect ISU writers with the greater Ames community.
Throughout the month of October, come see acrylic paintings at our store by Rolland artist Elsa Stutzman!
The name of each painting, and sometimes the art itself, is inspired by the book Elsa was reading during the time it was made.
