Li’l Weirdos

When: Friday, June 13th | 6 PM
Where: Dog-Eared Books

Come join us for Li’l Weirdos, where we’ll explore the world of literature through the lens of short, strange books. Often literary, sometimes freaky, but always weird, these books will span genres, and they will all make you say “what the fuck did I just read?” Come join Ellyn, one of Dog-Eared’s co-owners, and Mariah, its most voracious book-clubber, as we dive into some of the most ineffable books the world has to offer.

This month’s book is Everyone on the Moon is Essential Personnel by Julian K Jarboe. Li’l Weirdos will meet at 6PM on Friday, June 13th.

Winner of the Lambda Literary Award for LGBTQ Science-Fiction/Fantasy/Horror

In this debut collection of body-horror fairy tales and mid-apocalyptic Catholic cyberpunk, memory and myth, loss and age, these are the tools of storyteller Jarboe, a talent in the field of queer fabulism. Bodily autonomy and transformation, the importance of negative emotions, unhealthy relationships, and bad situations amidst the staggering and urgent question of how build and nurture meaning, love, and safety in a larger world/society that might not be “fixable.”This includes such tales as “The Nothing Spots Where Nobody Wants to Stay” and “The Seed and The Stone” as well as original fiction.

Purchase a copy to read, or grab it from the library, and join us at Dog·Eared Books at 6 PM on June 13th, to discuss the book with book club hosts, Ellyn and Mariah! This book club is free to anyone who wishes to participate, no registration necessary.
